Zartholomew, also known as Z is a powerful Wizard who worked primarily as a Technomancer for The Corporation. He is infamous for his 1997 arrest for the charges of possession of raw magic. His signature spell to perform is "Make DOS Applications Come Alive!"

Career

1982-1990

Z graduated from the Institute of Modern Magic in Chicago, IL in 1982. Later that same year, he was hired as an intern at Comaq. While at Comaq, he managed to perform a magical first by putting Comptun Sparks into a computer. This led to him being promoted within the company.

1990-2006

While working at Comaq, Z was talent poached by software giant The Corporation during their era of hiring wizards. He received an undisclosed sum in exchange for his loyalty.

At The Corporation, Z worked on many important projects. His work paved the way for popular OS features such as undelete.

He retired as a professional Technomancer in 2006, but he still works on personal projects.

Skills

Z is formally trained in foundational magic skills such as teleportation, transmogrification, and pyromancy. He specializes in technomancy, which applies magical elements to technology including but not limited to computer hardware and software. Rather than using a traditional wand to concentrate his magic, he prefers to use his hands while drawing magical power from his bowtie.

Magic number

Zartholomew's magic number is the number 5. Because of this, he must use two hands when counting to avoid the power associated with pointing five fingers at once.

Raw magic

In 1997, Z was arrested for possession of large quantities of raw, unrefined magic. Though, evidence of its use can be seen long before his arrest.

The Corporation bailed him out of jail.
